I have a 1952 J.D. 12A combine with the LUC engine. It is a bagger type. It is complete but needs the pickup belt. It has been in the hay shed for 2 years now. Before that it had lived in a machine shed. Never outside in the weather. Looks like by the time we put up the 2nd. cut of hay I'll need the space where the 12A sits. A tarp won't do. If I keep it I'd want it under a roof. Are any of you still using the pull types? Have you ever regretted letting one go? I'd be interested in your thoughts.

Hang onto it, Very rare, never saw a bager, diden't even know they made that version, That motor is a $500 plus item, If you have to move it out use a tarp even tho not ideal till you can put it back in the shed

If you possibly can, hold on to it! I've been smitten by old combines...now have 3! All IH, started with a 42R sacker, PTO, then got a 52R sacker with Continental engine, and just got another 52R tanker with the Cub engine. The problem is every one I find keeps getting better and better in condition! They take lots of space to store, but I had the first 52R in the wheat patch Monday and you just can't put a price on that kind of fun.....

Unless you have to, don't let it go. These older machines in good original shape are hard to find. I have and use a 12A, and a 30. One day they will be restored to new condition. Each time I put them in a field of ripe grain, I take pleasure at owning them when older members of the community tell their stories or someone stops to take a picture and watch a while.
