Just one more sickle mower question: When I attempt to lower the bar from the transport position to the cutting position, it wants to torque on the pitman rod. Do I need to adjust the angle of the bar to align the ball that the bar appears to pivot on, or what is the secret to doing this correctly? Any enlightenment would be appreciated. I will be getting a manual, but would like to do some cutting in the meantime. Everything else appears to work well!

Thanks to all the kind and helpful people on this wonderful board!!

Thanks, Kenneth

Just bought one too. I had the same problem. Just be careful your fingers are out of the way of the sections, the bar will move at any time could put an early end to a day of cutting!!

Watch your fingers. With the bar in the transport position, pull up on the pitman arm so the sickle blade moves up. There is a tab sticking up that will catch on the back side of the pitman arm when you try to lower it. I did that once and broke the pitman stick. Had to drive 60 miles to get a new one.
