Just pulled a "free" sickle-bar mower out of a friend's swamp, looks restorable. I'd like to I.D. this, need help please. Last used on an 8N Ford, owner thinks it's a Ford brand mower, not a Dearborn. 3-point, with large spring-loaded stabilizer arm that hooks up under the right axle. 7' bar, large round-topped A-shaped frame attaches to 3-point. Has both horizontal (front-back)and a vertical (up-down) pivots on the left side, viewed from rear. Large coil spring on rear of frame, runs left-right, extends when mower is lifted, seem to pull drive frame up off ground, but not very high. Complicated cable and pulley system, cable incomplete/broken, I think it's meant to raise cutting bar higher when mower is lifted. Bar can be pushed all the way up, pitman attachment is breakaway ball and socket. PTO drives a big pulley, belt, then a counter-ballanced flywheel to the pitman. The geometry is confusing, maybe the missing cable helps pull the thing higher. No trace of original color left unless if was rust colored to begin with. This thing is solid and heavy. I've been told that only Fords had this 3-point set-up, no wheels, stabilizer arm to axle. Oh, and my friend found an extra pulley/bracket that he thinks bolts up under the LEFT axle, the cable somehow hooks up to this. Sorry for long post. Hope someone has a clue. Thanks.
