I know this question may seem pretty hilarious to all you experienced farmers but I can realy use your advice on how to do this before I break my back and waste my limited time.

I have a Dearborn 2 bottom plow that I want to pull. My question is what is the best way to hook up this plow to the 3pt. All other 3pt tools i have used are pretty straight forward, two pins parrellell to each other and the top link.

With the plow behind the tractor, facing the 3pt, the left pin is higher than the right. I know how to adjust the height of the 3pt arms but What is the easiest way to mount this? Left pin first, then right, then center? Or the other way around? Your help is appreciated

Its usually easier to connect the left link arm and then adjust the height of the right link arm with the lift link crank to match the right pin on the plow.

Initially when the right wheel is not in a furrow, you want the plow to be sitting level with wheels so the right arm has to be long. You want it mostly level front to back by adjusting the top link. You want to tilt the plow slightly forward with the top link to make it pull it self into the ground and you have to change the side to side tilt with the right lift link adjustment so both bottoms go in the same amount. After the first pass opening up the field, you have to shorten the right lift link to accommodate the right wheel in the furrow. You will have to adjust the top link a little then too.

I once had an excellent pamphlet from Kvernlands on setting a plow for all aspects of plowing.(striking out[starting],main plowing, and finishing)This little booklet included photos and simple diagrams that made life much easier for me.
I used it as a guide when I first started match plowing(competition)17 years ago. I had already been field plowing for 5 or 6 yrs and still found this handy. Go to a farm equip. dealer and describe what you are after. If you can find it let me know.It is also possible i still have my copy which I would be glad to send to you dogeared and beat on as it is. Remember Kvernlands Plows (guide to plowing or some such)
Good luck!

Have scanner, willing to make a few if I'm not getting into copyright problems with new publications. I'd be needing someone to send me one to scan....
