I acquired a one row mounted picker for an 8N ford.
Does anyone know where the arm attaches that raises the snouts up and down. How rare are these mahines?

Are you talking about a Ford or a Dearborn Woods picker? On the Ford pickers that mount beside the right rear wheel the lift mechanism attaches to the right side of the rockshaft. You disconnect the leveling assembly from the right liftarm and lift linkage is then connected. The Ford pickers are still fairly plentiful in fencerows and old barns. We had one in the seventies mounted on a 1964 Ford 4000. From the posts over the last few months picker prices seem to be rather low these days. Did you acquire this as a collectors item or to use?

My grandfather had one (16-65) on an NAA, then on an MF65. It's still out there in the fencerow. Don't know what's still good on it and what's not. I may still have the mounting brackets around in the shop somewhere for the NAA (will also work on 8N). I think the operator's manual is still available at New Holland's website. Don't know if I have one yet or not.
