My Wood finish mower says to lube with 80-90 weight gear lube. The stuff at Farm and Fleet come in 5 gallon jugs so I assume it's a liquid.
The mower has standard grease fitting. Do I run that stuff through a grease gun or do I need some special tool.

Have not seen a straight answer yet so will advise. This rear mount unit has grease fittings on the three shafts, and on the main pulley housing. use good agri grease. The other woods units have a gearbox that uses 80/90. you may have a book that covers several units, but I dont remember any gearbox on this model.

Hi Jerry,
I think the manual is referring to 80-90 gear lube for the gear box. NAPA has it in quarts and the gear box holds approx one quart. Just changed mine for this season. You use regular grease in a grease gun for the fittings. Suggestion, I lube my blade bolts with anti-seize lube. The wife just sheared one off on a fireant mound and the broken end came out with no trouble thanks to the anti-seize. Good luck.

Thanks, now I'm goint to sound really stupid. Where's the gear box?
If I ever get the blades off I'm goint to use the Anti-seize. They're really on there now.

Jerry, I was speaking generally when I said that 80-90 lube goes in the gear box. Some mowers don't have gear boxes. Your manual may be designed for more than one model mower, possibly with and without gear boxes. Hope I didn't confuse you.

Believe it or not the guy I got it from along with a '52 TO30 had the owners manual still in the tool box of the tractor. I need to set down and read it carefully. I got some grease in everything that had a fitting.
Thanks,
Jerry
