Hi All,

I'm considering buying a 7 foot two gang adjustable MF disc harrow to pull with my Ford 8N. I'm wondering if parts are still available for these harrows, like new discs, scrapers, etc. Also, any thoughts on the appropriateness of this size disc for my tractor would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your replies,
Christian

My grandfather had a Ferguson one with cast iron bearings, pulled it with an NAA by itself, or with the MF65 with a packer behind. Great little disk. Literally wore it out. If you have a later version of this disk (if it is a Massey-Ferguson and not just a Harry Ferguson), it may have sealed bearings, which are a lot cheaper to replace than the cast iron ones, which last time I looked, were $99 for just one half of the shell. The tree nursery next to us has an MF version, looks identical to my grandfathers gray Ferguson disk, except it has round axles and sealed bearings instead of square axles and iron bearings.

The bearings I recently bought weren't too bad.
Paid $150 for 8 of them including shipping to my door. They're cast iron, complete block including
the spools.

Ultradog MN- Would you like to tell us where we can purchase those bearings for $180? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks.

The disks are a standard item that can be found at any ag supply retailer.

I've gotta say the MF adjustable is the best three point disk I have seen. It is one of the few that doesn't need weighted to do a good job.

Christian,
The old timers on the Ford N board have assured
me that my 2N should pull a 7' disc ok.
It will make your hydraulics groan a little to lift it and will make your front wheels light but it will pull it ok.
The discs are pretty easy to find at places like
Tractor Supply or Fleet Farm though a little pricey. You should be able to find them used too.
I think the scrapers could easily be made or repaired if they are worn or missing.
More important than either of those two items on an old disc is the bearings. They can be pretty tricky (read expensive) to find.
I bought an older tandem 7' disc harrow this winter and put new bearings into it.
Am looking forward to Next weekend when I can bring both of them up to the lake and do a little digging with them. Good Luck
