Anybody have any expierence with disk plows made by Monroe Tufline. The smallest one is a 2 disk model 22 inches wide. How would that compare to a moldeboard plow for size. What are the pros and cons of a disk plow. I have a Ferguson 30 tractor and a 10 acre field that grows a nice crop of rocks every year. The ferguson pulls a 2-14 moldboard just fine. Is the Tufline 2/22 too big for my little tractor. The plow I am useing right now is borrowed and I'm looking to get my own this spring and just looking at options.

Todd,

The disk plow will have less draft than a mold board plow. Disk plows were made specificaly for rocky soil. We've broken plow points but have never broken a disk plow blade. I'm sure someone out there has but I've pulled a two disk athens disk plow 872,000 miles and wore a lot of them out. Our VAC's with super power kits are smaller engines than your ferggie and it pulls it right along in third gear. Don't know about the tufline. Some of these short line deals are rather light. Dearborn, fergusen, and others used to make these. Deere sold a good solid one for their small 420 that was a good heavy plow. A neighbor had one. With your rough ground, go for the disk plow, you won't regret it.
