Just sold the 2 Woods Bros. pickers that I had. I bought a N.I. 323 and can't wait to try it out. You have to go slow and be careful. The 323 I just got was sold to me by an old farmer with only one hand (no lie) and the picker was the culpret.

I started out with one in the early 1960's. Picked left handed, husking bed ran back to front throught the middle with elevator on the right that ran the lenght of the picker. Did a decent job but was made for 60 to80 bu. corn and I had some of that. Mine was painted gray and said ferguson on it. The I.D. plate said woods bros. Maybe someone had repainted to match thier tractor?

No, yours was most likely an early unit sold by Ferguson during the 9N association with Ford. Dearborn continued to sell them painted red after the breakup, while Ferguson sold Belle City pickers until the merger with Massey-Harris.

The more commonly replaced parts are still available from Your New Holland (was Ford)dealer, if you can't find something contact us our dealership sold these new, the correct color is Ford tractor red because they were sold with the Ford tractors by Ford dealers from 1940's to the 1960's.

I have three of these pickers. One is a runner and the other two are for parts. I am planning on getting another one and turning my current runner into another parts machine, as my father broke of a snout last fall. If you need any parts, email me at [email protected] . I will try to help if I can. These pickers were built for 70 bushel or so per acre corn, so go as slow as possible when using them. One of our biggest problems(besides breaking the old, rusty chains) we had was corn sticking under the bottom of the cross conveyer/elevator and making the old broken down belt slip. Nothing to do but dig it all out and get it running again. Before dismounting the tractor, TURN OFF THE PTO, at least. It is better to totally shut it down. Is yours PTO or does it have a motor on it? The correct color, as far as I can tell, is dearborn red.

yes it is a ford dearborn /wood bros picker. they were a popular one row picker in their day. you need to find a used one for parts. but just driving around this week i noticed at least 5 pickers sitting outside.i know of barn that was torn down that still had one in excellent condition sitting inside.the only problem i have ever had with this or any picker as far as breakdowns on a regular basis was the shelled corn saver/trash remover chains breaking or the shear bolts on them. plus the older pickers shelled more in the snapping rolls. a neighbor used to have probs with the wagon elevator clutch area too. but these pickers were pulled with a 8 n ford. we used a new idea #7 with my grandfathers 8n. they were a popular picker that won a lot of picking contests. you might learn more on the y.t. s havester /combine board.used parts shouldnt be a problem . as always. SHUT IT OFF WHEN REPAIRING;ADJUSTING OR OILING AND GREASING !!! these old machines as with any machines can be deadly and can maime and amputate. !!
