Wondering how to confirm model number for a John Deere sickle mower? Concert drawbar type with pitman arm, tail wheel. Casting marks on it range from:
Z-3-43
Z34
Z-3-42
Z-3-40
Z-3-37
Z-348-XXX

Has been repainted and no tag seen. Thanks

I can tell you it's definitely NOT a #9. I have one of those and it's a 3pt hitch mower with no tail wheel. I "think" that a #8 is a tail wheel style, but there may be others. Don't take my word as gospel because I'm really not sure.
