I found an old walking plow in my field. It says "Wiard Plow Co. Batavia N Y 43" on it. Is this something special, or just a good lawn ornament ??? Thanks in advance.

Sir, The "Wiard Plow Company" was around from the early 1800s (1804 +/-) until 1954 when it was declared bankrupt. it was in Oakfield NY and then Batavia NY. I'm interested in the company because my last name is "Wiard" and the company was formed by a branch of my family. I'm just looking for history and,if possible someday, a company catalog. I've found a couple of them myself and have them in my posession. Unless you're going to start farming the hard way I guess you have a lawn ornament or you can contact "Farmer Brown" because he sells parts for these and other walk behinds. Good luck!

I got a Wiard 6x tractor plow from my neighbor. It was a 2 bottom with rubber tires, had sat in the brushrow too long and was too far gone so sold it for scrap but saved the nameplate.
