I here you are good with the older seed drills. I just got a John Deere Model B (14x7)that is missing the raise/lower hydraulic cylinder. Was the hydraulic unit factory or was it converted from hand control? If it was factory, do you know what size cylinder it was? Thanks in advance

I had a Deere FBB hyd. lift drill. It used a standard 8" stroke ag-type cylinder. A 3x8 or 2 1/2x8 cylinder should work well. Your drill was probably available with either hyd lift or a rope trip. Not likely to be a conversion.

The FB and B were available with hydraulic lift from the factory, however, judging by the pin hole size on my FB (the holes are there, even though mine has trip clutches), the early ones didn't use standard cylinders. I'll have to dig out my manual and see if it gives any specs.
