I was wondering if anyone could tell me what this grain drill is worth. It has been stored in a barn for decades, has original red and with paint. Has the steel wheels. Everything appears to work. However, I am not a farmer.

For Old Iron, it is tractor drawn, thanks for the picture, My writing of John Deere and Van Blunt is much smaller. Thanks to Tim(nj) for the info also. It's color has faded but it is a very nice unit. I live 50 miles from the Indiana Amish community.

Howdy David,

Could you tell me if it's set up for tractor or horse? I have attached a picture of one of my Van Brunt grain drills. As you can see in the picture the pole is on the ground. If the pole on the front of the grain drill is shorter than the one in the picture, it was converted for tractor use.

The price all depends on where you are located and if it is indeed complete and in working order. For example, the one in the picture I gave $185 for on e-bay and it was located in Iowa. (I'm in Wisconsin.)

As Tim(nj) said, a Amish may give you $300 to $400 for it but if it is in Wisconsin it's going to have to be field ready to get that price from them. It can have a short pole for them to buy it sense new poles can be had for $20 at the Amish saw mill.

I also agree with Tim(nj) that it is a sad site when only the wheels are taken and the rest of the machine is left to rot. Goes to show how much these so-called antique dealers know.

My 2 bits worth,

Old Iron

It's not worth a fortune, if that's what you're hoping. If it's in working order, an Amish farmer would give $300-$400 for it. Around here, these drills, even in excellent condition, usually get their wheels robbed and the rest gets junked, sadly.
