I recently bought a NH 269 baler. It looks like it has been used very little but it was left out most of its life. I noticed after I got it home that their is a lot of rust and in one spot it is rusted through in the bale chamber in front of the plunger. Also the bale chamber in the back has a lot of rust from leaving hay in it. Will the baler still work with all this rust? It looks to me like there is no easy way to patch it and to replace the whole bale chamber looks like I'd pretty much be building a new baler. I also noticed that it is built much lighter than the 270 i used to have. Thanks for any advice.

You might be surprised. I bought a complete IH 45 baler for $10 last year with very little paint left on it, mostly a lot of surface rust. The knotters were covered up though. I was going to use it for parts for my good one. I greased it up and ran it a little bit, couldn't find anything wrong with it, -yet.

I have a 268 that has a lot of rust too. Bale chamber rusted through in some places. It still makes excellent 70 lb bales. Don't let the rust bother you.
