We recently bought a new baler, and we are trying to get rid of the old one, a 273. What is the approximate value of it? The pickup head was rebuilt 2 years ago, and the knotters couldnt tie any better, the only thing is the feeding carraige is pretty much wore out.

I just bought a 273 at auction couple days ago. Said they had not had 10,000 through the machine. I bought it to replace my 65 compact hayliner for $1225.00. Nice clean machine. Cant wait to get it going...

I've been balershopping and been told that a good 273 w. thrower should go for $1000. Of course, no one who stated that price had one for sale. Dealers are asking close to $2000 for these here in WI; a consignment sale near Madison had a 273 w. thrower sell for $1400.
Its probably like real estate: the 3 important things are location, location and location.

I have wound up buying a 310 with thrower for $1400 from a farmer who bought a current model NH 570 at an auction. Will pick it up tomorrow-- should be able to tell you by July if this was a good idea.

Bought mine in June 2000 at a SD farm auction for $350. Have done nothing but put in twine and bale hay. About 9000 bales in the last 2 years and missed 5 knots. Great baler.

We just looked at a 273. New bearings throughout, new knotters. New tires. Painted with a 4" barn brush! Other than the paint, a terrific baler. Sold before I could get back with them. Went for $1700.... Hope that helps-
