Hi, everyone I bought a John Deere disk. I noticed that there is a cast iron doughnut shaped piece cracked in half. It's about 8 inches in diameter. Where can I find one and How do I take the gang apart. I took the big nut off one end but can't get the shaft to move. Thanks

John, a time or two we've run a disk with the nut on the gang axle loose long enough that dirt got packed into the hollow part of the spacers. Major problems; no easy solutions; just get a bigger hammer.

you'll have to drop the whole gang and remove the blades one at a time till you get to where you want. What happens is the disc gets used with that nut loose and the blades wear a groove in the shaft so it won't just slide out. Should be able to get that part at an implement salvage yard.
