Don't know anything about it. Size, condition, numbers, drive...nothing. Just that it is a JD corn sheller. Can you give me an idea of its worth. It is being sold locally in a live auction.

If its mounted on a truck, could be well worn out, as the commercial shellers ran them til they couldn't be fixed anymore. Sometimes farmers had the same model on rubber tires, pull type, and they only got used once a year. Have seen some of the well used ones go for $50.00, and it took the auctioneer a while to get that. If its in an area where a few guys still pick corn, small livestock feeders mostly, it may bring more. Last few I've seen running were at the treshing/tractor shows. John in Ne.

I think they had 2 radically different models, as well as the old hand cranks. So, that's a tough guess.

Not really worth much any more in most locations, altho green paint does bring out some bidders.

The little 43 sheller, which uses a long, small diameter rotor, will bring decent money here in NJ ($700-900 for a nice one). The 43 was sold either on a 2-wheel carrier or on a 3-pt. carrier, and since it measures about 6' long and 4' wide, with removable elevator and pipe, it can be fairly easily transported to shows with a tractor, hence the collector interest. The big 71 sheller, which is similar to the Minnie-Moes, will not bring much more than $100, even if nice, because it's such a behemoth to move around. If I ever see in a nearby auction another 71 or a Minnie-Mo 1210 in good shape, it might just come home with me . . . .
