I want to install a net wrap on my 1997 JD 566. I was wandering if I could hear from someone that has added the net-wrap to their baler. I am concerned about making it work, because I'm doing all of it myself. I'm also trying to find an alternative to purchasing a new $2200.00 JD pto shaft. I'm wandering if I can buy one aftermarket that will handle the torque. Thanks in advance; Barney-South Ga. Charter Member of Arabi Haybalers Association.

Barney; I haven't added net wrap to a '66 series baler but I have added it to '35 series. We usually order all our balers in these days with net wrap installed. However, for your situation I believe you should be able to manage as there should be complete instructions included with the bundle. Your dealer would be able to confirm this. As far as your PTO is concerned I assume it is beyond repair.I know the parts are ridiculously priced as I replaced the shielding on a 466 last year ($600 CAN !!) I would look around at aftermarket and see. A reputable supplier should be able to get you something that will stand up if they know where it will be used. Good luck,Bob
