Hi guys, I placed a want ad localy for a 5' pull type rotary cutter. I'll be pulling it with a '43 JD B. Anyway, the only response so far was someone (about 500 miles away) selling a new international for $1,000.00. He didn't say what model but said it is a real solid cutter and has a "stump jumper?" and will deliver to within 50 miles of me for $100.00. Question: I'm in no hurry but if I can't find anything used is this a decent price? I'll only be mowing about 15 to 20 acres a year. Thanks' Dan.

I'd try some auctions if there are some in your area. I have seen some really nice pull type mowers for 400-500 and some usuable ones for less than 200. Besides auctions are a lot of fun!

You may be able to handle a 6' rotary..... Remember, you will only be cutting 4' with a 5' mower because of the grass tipped forward by the Rt wheel, which the mower will not pick up on the 1st pass.. If the blades are sharp, and you don't cut too close the 1st time--I think you will run it, and Make Lots Better time... I use a 6' Bush Hog on my '52 "B", and have not ever "stuck it"...even in 8' tall saplings.....( tho I was in 1st gear.).!!! I usually run in 4th, 3" off the ground..

I saw this on the photo ads, not sure if it's anywhere close to ya, it seems a tad high in price, but you might be able to work w/the fella on it.

This one looks like what you would be needing and the price appears to be right. I doubt if the one called "International" is really an INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER. I have seen other implements marked "International" where not the real trade name IHC. I have a 6'woods which looks similar to the photo

You should easily be able to buy a new king cutter or similar locally for a little less with the same features. Try TSC or similar farm implement stores, they may be a little lighter duty, but no more than your going to cut it should last a long time.
