earliest 55 were about 1955 or possibley earlier, the high machine, then came the hi-lo in 1962, the square back in 1964 with the newest being 1969, in 1970 the 4400 came out that replaced the 55, older ones 12' grain head, newer 12-14', if you could find the correct parts could put on 4 row narrow corn head, se archives on implements

The 55 was available as early as 1947. We had a very early one (I think 1949) which had the manual ground speed control lever, an unloading auger that did not fold for transport and gas tank located on the lower left rear of the machine. Later ones had ground speed control converted to hydraulic control, unloading auger folded and gas tank was on the right side near the ladder that was climbed to reach the engine. There are most likely lots of other differences that I don't remember.

I can give you a lot of help, but I need a little more info than that. Next time, post it on the Combines and Harvesters board.

I just bought a 55 with 235 2 row corn head last fall for $300. It's a great running little machine. Went through 135 bu/acre corn in 2nd gear like a champ. Was looking for a 4 row head for my 95 but this was less money and I don't have to switch heads. Only 20 acres of corn a year anyway. This allows me to play a little longer.

Dates back to 60s/70s. 45-55-95-105 combines made at that time, 45 was smallest. 55 had 4- row bean head, good 2-3 row corn machine. Don't know if a 4-row fit, or if it could handle the job- depends on corn yield too. Some parts are no longer available at dealers. Price is real good if it runs.
