I have a NH 462 mower and one of the six out put shafts is bad.Do I have to spilt the whole bottom part to replace the gear? The bad one is the last from the gear box.
Thanks

Oh boy Mike, I would like to tell you that this is an easy job, but you are correct!! The whole bar has to be split in half just to replace one shaft. I work at a New Holland dealership and I have had the priveledge (YUCK)!! of doing a couple of those retched things and it is NO fun. So Mike, HAVE FUN!! Steve

Yes Mike, you do. The best way I have found is to take everything off including shoes, wear plates and set the bar up on a table. One of the toughest parts is loosening and removeing the fairly large set screws between the disc shafts. They are metric allen wrench type and they are tight. Also, you can only turn each one a 1/2 turn at a time. Yes, that's right. Take them all out together, 1/2 turn at a time. If you don't, you will warp the bar. Trust me, whatever European designed this setup..... .....!!!! Mike, enjoy!!! Steve
