I've got a JD 2020 that I'm trying to find a loader for and I found a guy who has this New Idea 502A for sale for $1000.00. I've seen New Idea haying equip. but didn't know they made loaders. When did they quit, are parts still available or is this an odd duck that if I have problems I won't be able to fix it. Any advice or info would be appreciated.

New Idea made all kinds of implements. Their name and rights were bought out by Agco, and parts and manuals are still available from them.

I have a Massey Ferguson loader on my MF 180, can't remember the model# offhand, but while at an auction this summer I saw a NI 504 loader (perhaps a larger size than the 502 you're looking at?) that was identical. My belief is that NI made loaders under their own name and also sold them to MF (and maybe others) to complement their tractor lines.

As MF is also part of AGCO, a call to your dealer should give you an idea of how easy parts are to find.

My loader has been used & abused for 28 years now, dad bought it new in 73, and it has held up well. We have done some welding to repair cracks, and replaced the bucket cylinders and put new seals in the lift cylinders, but that work has paid for itself many times over.

Feel free to email if you have any more questions.
