Does anybody know if anyone makes small no-till drills, maybe 5 ft or less?. Am working with some experimental crops and the seed is VERY expensive so can't prime a big seed hopper. Must still put seed down at definced depth and accurate rate.
Thanks for any info.

maybe the reason Norm mentioned the University is the one he knows about is like the one I use. Vermeer, Brillion, New Holland, and about all tractor and equipment companies send equipment to the Ag Dept to use. When they get through with it you can buy it at a very low cost. The university uses very small as well as very large equipment. That wasnt very nice to bite Norm when he gave help. You might need to take a chill pill before asking for help.

You know its hard to imagine getting so excited over somebody mentioning the Ag department. You guys calm down, maybe the reason he brought it up is he like I,is very fortunate to live in a state where we have very educated and helpful ag personnel and a very active university farm program.

Charles What about Tye(Agco) or maybe Monosem. Monesem makes alot of specialized planters for veggies.

I don't know if they make a drill, but Almaco at Nevada Iowa (probably has a web page) makes planters and combines for seed exeriments. Probably cost as much as the full sized field thing being hand made. 515-382-3506

Norm, the Ag. dept. at the University? You mean folks brought up on goveragribusiness and whose research funding and careers are hitched to soybean, cotton, corn or other big commodity crops?
It be more simple to have it done by hand and in a third world agricultural country.

O.K., you are right. Felt a little heavy while writing it. Sometimes get frustrated with some canned answers I've gotten from extension and Ag. Depts. - but I really like this dicussion board and the people who bother to respond. NORM, thanks for trying to help. charles
