Guys, I have gotten my 1207 home and am hooking it up. I have gotten it running but am trying to go through it and set it up for spring. Had to adjust the float tension and I have a couple of questions. What speed do you guys run the reel at and do you have a setting table for the shoes. I have the Op Manual, Parts Manual and the technical manual but none of them reference the cutting height at various shoe settings.

Reel speed selection depends on what you're going to cut and how fast you expect to pull the machine through it. My reel is set all the way up, but I tend to travel like a bat out of Hades when I do first cut orchardgrass or timothy. In light grass, if the reel is set too fast, it tends to flip the cut stuff back onto the hood or carries it around the reel and drops it in front of the machine instead of feeding the rollers. I would set it mid-way and try it. I'm not sure on the cutterbar height. Mine rides on the next to the lowest notch. Always been there, never changed it. Keep an eye on the big skid plate, sometimes it likes to jiggle itself out from under a shoe on one side and starts digging up turf.

Well then I will set mine up at the midpoint. I am going to be cutting Orchardgrass and Alfalfa. I will set the shoe in the second from the lowest. Thanks and I am sure that I will be talking to you and Paul more when the cutting starts. BTW Could you quantify the Bat out of Hades into a MPH. I have found that my normal speed seems to meet that description to some. LOL I would like to know how fast you guys mow with these things.

I hope Tim helps, even after using mine a couple years I have similar questions! I only got the operators manual, & it's not much on setup for the machine.

I have the older 1209 with 2 cylinders, and the right-hand side doesn't seem to life up much any more. Are these special cylinders, or some bleeding needed?

Paul none of the manuals are much on setup. What speed and height do you run when cutting alfalfa. I will get you a copy of the service manual section on the cylinders. They are a master/slave setup if I remember what I was reading a couple of weeks ago.
