In the classifieds there is a John Deere 10' disk for sale. It doesn't say if it is a KBA,RWA or whatever. It says it has mostly good blades, all new paint, almost all new bolts, and 95% restored, excellent condition. It also claims it is priced to sell. $600 firm. It is in Central Ohio. What do you guys think? Good price? I have been looking for a disk this size for a Ford 4000.

Bruce,

I think the RWA designation stands for "rigid wing adjustable", I'm not sure what KBA stands for, maybe somebody else out there does know. The KBA discs have the gangs sort of hung loosely by chains. The KBA discs don't do a very good job in heavy clay soil, but work OK in lighter soil.
The other posters seem to have covered the price range issue pretty well.

I bought a 10 foot KBA at auction in pretty good shape for $325 (central MI).

I just bought a 9 foot JD disc for $450 with a new cylinder, one broken blade, which cost $15 new to replace and had good paint and no rust. I thought it was a real bargain.

A friend bought a 10 foot JD about 6 months ago for $700. He thought it a fair price. I've seen them for as high as $900 around here.

I have a friend that pulls a 10 foot JD with a 4000 Ford. He has to have liquid in his tires to pull it without slippage.
