I got a 2 bottom plow from a neighbor, I managed to get everything working pretty well. It had steel wheels, one was missing, I replaced them with 2 rubber tires. I tried using it but I can't get it to dig in very deep. Could it be that the tires raise the points up too high, the rubber tires are bigger that the original. Any thoughts?
I may be back with other questions, also I broke a piece while I was working on it and it was in rough shape in the field. So I need maybe a diagram or a a picture of how the tail wheel works, it moves freely, but it doesn't raise or lower w/ the levers.

Like Paul says, what make is it? The IH #8 has a slightly different setup for the steel wheels VS the rubber. Tim

What brand is it? Failing that, what color was it? Be easier to help if folks know that.

Does the right-hand wheel line up in the furrow right? If it is in or out any different than the inner side of the original wheel, it won't plow right. Make sure this is ok, or forget the new wheels, won't work.

You should be able to adjust the plow a bit deeper to make up for the bigger wheels, but how much did the tires raise it? You will need to level it off with the back end now as well, or the plow will be angled 'uphill' and won't pull into the ground right.

Plows need to be angled & set right in all 3 directions. By changing the height of the front end, you may have upset the balance it had. You will need to find that balance again.

A big reason for a plow not penetrating is the plow shares being worn down. Might want to try new ones, this is one of those 'always' the cause of problems things.

(As to the harrow in your other message, around 'here' a complete one often sells for $25 or less, be sure you don't spend more on making a frame than what they are worth in your area.)
