I am looking for the pivot point parts for a #55 NH hay rake. The parts are the ball and the metal pieces that grip the ball that form the pivot point when the rake is raised and lowered.

The parts are the same ones used for many of the rakes built for years. Your NH dealer has them. I replaced the ball and got pricing for the cups this past summer. You can look at my before and after at www.photopoint.com and use my email address. Look under the Ford 2000 making hay

BTW those are the correct colors for the NH 55

Jerry D in NC: Nice job on the rake... so what color is the NH SUPER 55? Mine is Ford blue. (the old boy I got it from wanted it to match his tractor - at least it didn't rust). I have the original owners manual, but the pics are b/w. It looks like the roller bar & clutch, gear sytem was red & the wheels, lift rods, & main frame were yellow. This quess was from shade variations of the b/w photo. Is the pic playing a trick on the eye or what? A color brochure of later models 256,258,260,57, all show the colors to be exactly the opposite. I would like to return it to its original color one day... NICE RAKE - WORKS GREAT (even if it is blue). Replaced 20 teeth (yellow) ... first phase of restoration complete.

I would like to view your pictures but apparently do not know how. I went to photopoint.com and listed your e-mail as above. No album appeared
Can you tell me what I am doing incorrectly
Thanks

What did the ball and cups run when you priced them?

It has been a while but I think the ball was around $12 and the cups were about $16. Call a NH dealer and he should have the parts or at least pricing. I could never find a bone yard with a rolabar in it. Most of the guys laughed when i asked and said that was one thing that was always worth fixing.

Nice job on the NH 55! Yours looks like the way I wish mine did! I have one that still has original (faded) paint and mostly original teeth. I bought it several years ago from the original owner. It is a great machine.

He sure did a nice job on restoring it, I believe pictures of mine (stored outside all the time) helped with the colors.

Original teeth? Wow. I replace close to 20 a year on average. I guess it's hard on it raking road ditches & especially the county drainage ditch, as well as all the straw in the rough field.

As to the needed cups, there are a few salvage dealers that deal with hay equipment, sorry I do not have any numbers handy. Can you get ahold of some ag magazines, check them out for the specialists. And New Holland dealers should have new stuff available for you as said.

Paul is indeed the source of the pictures I used to get the colors right. Seemed odd to paint the basket red. LOL. Without a doubt, as Brent has said the owners manual and parts manual are required and I bought both this year. I had a great time restoring this boy. I took out and replaced all of the bolts and painted under the pieces. Half the teeth were on backwards and the right hand drive pawl was on backwards so it would rake going forward or backward. LOL Good luck and let me know if I can be of help. This old rake will flat out do some raking. I used it on several acres this year and it did a wonderful job.

I ordered an owner's manual for my 55 off New Hollands website. I think it has many part numbers listed. It would pay to get one if you are rebuilding.
