I am currently in possession of a post hole digger that the owner would like to sell to me. I am not sure of the manufacturer but but it has some age to it. I have used it hard and it has done well by me this past summer. It has a 12" auger and mounts on the back of my 9n. My neighbor would like $200 but he is not sure what a fair price is either. Does anyone have any opinion on this?

It really seems to me like this hindges on what brand the auger is. I paid $350.00 for my used but "like new" Bush Hog model with 12" auger. I sold my older in good shape lighter duty model for $200.00. I'm with Burrhead though, you been useing it, why not give him the $200.00? Robert

Around here a new unit sell's for about $299.00 and then you have to buy the auger for another $100.00 bucks each.
So I 'd say $200.00 bucks is fair depending on the condition of the auger!
If it's worn I'd offer him $150.00 and see if he bite's telling him that that's about half price of a new unit!
Busy Corner got a good deal on his with 3 augers!

You've already used it more than $200 worth.

Nation Rents is the only rental around here that rents and auger. They get $55 per day.

Like Farmer Gene said just pay the man and you'll both be happy over the deal.

Unless hes been charging you for the use of it I would give him the $200 that he wants, don't think you will find one at a cheaper price.

I have seen them go for more than that, and you know that this one works well. A FAIR price is what buyer and seller are happy with.Count the holes that you dug with it and divide it by the selling price and it will not seem so expensive. A man can never have too much equipment!!
