How far from the center line of the tractor do I need to set the inside of the tire for a 5-14 SEMI mount plow? (J.D.) it looks like it is a lot closer than with trailer plows. I have a J.D. book that explaines the spacing procedure for trailer plows (66h,a) and I am familar with trailers But semi mounts are a new ball game. It is going on a 806 I.H. Thanks in advance.

If this is a JD F135 or F145 plow, my book (OM-A15895 issue H7) has specifications for the "regular hitch" and a "Hydrualic landing hitch". For the regular hitch, spacings of 30" and 32" are specified. It shows a picture of the relationship of the front frame bar and the hitch pivot assembly. they refer to a "dimension "A"" which is the istance from the hitch pivot point to the inside edge of the front frame bar, left side facing the rear. That value is 20" for the 30" wheel spacing and 22" with 32" wheel spacing.
I suggest you order the book for your plow, as there is a good deal of additional information.

Jim, is that spacing the same for an f45 jd plow? I borrowed one from a neighbor, it is a 3 bottom with one left off. I set the wheel on my Farmall SMTA to 30" center of tire to center of tractor but it still looks a bit wide. Haven't tried it yet though, just looking at allignment of plow bottom to tire.

Do any of you have an idea of the spacing of that rear wheel for a two bottom 3pt hitch plow?

If you put them at 30 " you will be close. I can't tell you exact off the top of my head, but I know it for sure is not less than 28 or over 32. Would have to go out and measure my tractor but got shoes off and its DARK & COLD and have been going since 04:15 this AM. That is a long enough day for a 71 year old coot that is retired .

Alvin, Thank you, on a 4-14 trailer plow it's 31 1/2" and on a 5-14 it's 38" but the semi mount appears closer sooo if it ever dries out and we can harvest corn ,then if it ain't frozen we will try it! Here in S.E.Mi. we have had near 7" of rain since the 11th. of Oct. and NOBODY is doing anything(except complaining) saw one combine with tracks making a mess of a field of beans. oh well there is always next year !! Thanks!

Hope things get better for you soon. At this time of year you need every day of good weather possible, cause soon you will be able to walk on water too.
