Hi Folks, We got a model 27 V sickle bar mower that was rescued from the great honeysuckle patch. I had thought it was a 25 V but I've learned differantly. The mower is a bolt-on type and I'm told it was a nice match to the 'M' McCormick tractor. I've been hoping to adapt it to a standard 3 point hitch tractor instead of using it as a bolt-on drawbar mower. Have any of you done this? Sure could use some advice. It is a real nice mower. Needs just a few parts added. I'm hoping to change the lift mechanism for the sickle bar.
Instead of the long lift lever that was originally engineered for it I want to put a hydraulic cylinder on it. The lift lever is missing on ours anyway, and I believe that the lift cylinder will be easier on me than the lift lever. Any help from you would come real handy on this. I've got the winter to sort it out. Hope to mow hay with it next summer. Thanks in advance.
Mike

Mike,

I looked through my 27V and 27VA manuals I have here and they DO NOT show how to mount it for 3 point. They only show how to mount it to the drawbar.

They manual DOES show how to hook up a hydraulic cylinder in place of the hand lift.

To see the hydraulic cylinder hook-up, follow the below link.

Hope this helps,

Houndman

Was just looking at my manual a couple of days ago after I had just bought one without the drawbar to see what I will have to make, It showed the parts for Ford 9N, Different parts for NAA, different parts for Ferguson 30, still different parts for Case with 3 point eagle hitch, must have different version

Get an operators manual for it, will show all you are asking about.
