wondering what all kinds of ways have been used to hold down the rear of your tractor when doing loader work to keep the tires from slipping

I run water (85% fill) plus calcium chloride (400#/per tire). This is fine on a 7710 Ford. My 1210 Case (cab on the Ford adds some, too) is still too light this way so I add a round bale on forks. A lot of my friends us iron instead of fluid because the tires won't give as much. Plus if it leaks it will corrode your rims.

Interesting note, the Ford had radials on it and I didn't need the fluid until working on frozen ground. They cost a lot but sure pull well.

If you are gonna hang weight off the rear of your machine make sure that your rear axle or wheel bearings are in good shape and well greased because if not when they go you stand a real good chance of chewing up your final drive gears and you wont feel it happening because of the extra weight.T.J.

It's best to get the weight behind the back axle to transfer weight from the front axle to the back (teeter totter effect). I have an IH front weight bracket on a 3pt mount with 10 100lb suitcase weights on it, tractor (IH 826) also has fluid and a set of wheel weights but the 3pt weights make a huge difference.

Fluid in rear tires.

Bolt-on wheel weights.

Hang a 35-55 gallon drum full of rocks, cement, etc. off the 3-point hitch with a shaft & brackets for the 3-point. (Or formed concrete, weight box, etc. if you don't want a barrel.)

Hang the brush hog (or other implement) off the 3-point.

i seen a guy weld a three point hook-up to a 55 gallon barrel and filled it with cement, then welded a couple of front-end tractor suitcase weights to it.

Doug,I rigged a hook up for a drum similar to the one you described, except mine can be disconnected from the drum and hooked to another. I use it mostly on my fuel drum. It has a metal strap that goes around the drum from a vertical arm and the strap tightens with a bolt and nut. The two horizonital side mounts are at the sides of the arm and the top link hooks at the top of the vertical arm. Works great.
