I just got my first tractor and its a Massey Ferguson MH-50. It is having alot of problems right now. The PTO only goes up about 3-6 inches. I checked the fluid by looking into the the place that you refill it at and cant see any in there..... how much does it hold and what do I put in there ? It says 90 engraved in the metal cap. Next problem: it starts up good and idles perfectly, the problem is when you put a load on it, it bogs down. It can hardly pull the bush hog. When I pull the throttle down it just bogs even more..... ..is it the carburator ? Please help. If you have AOL Instant Messanger and can answer me on that it would be great. My screen name is Y7WEB. Thanks for you help.

Your PTO doesn't go up or down. Your 3-point hitch does. You should get an operators manual and a shop manual if you do not have them.
I'm trying to remember without looking at the tractor, but there should be a dipstick behind the right side foot plate, under the hydraulic control lever. That tells you your fluid level. If you've got enough fluid, you may need to replace o-rings on the standpipe that goes from the transfer plate to the pump, or the pump itself. I had pressure loss on my MF65 (same basic setup) because of a blown o-ring on the pump end of the standpipe. As far as your engine problem is concerned, could be a number things. Check fuel flow from tank to carb, adjust carb, make sure the governor linkage is attached to carb correctly. Check to see if the governor itself is working and adjusted properly. You'll need the manuals to do all this.
