I did some checking..... .I found some sales lit. from 1977 which has the 78 series cultivators in it. You could get a 78 in a two row front mount for specialty crops and tobacco. I believe that you can set your spacings from 28" to 48" but I will have to check for sure. They must have made the same cultivator in the 68 series, so yes they made a 268. The lit. says they are for mounting on most Farmall tractors, but nothing earlier than a 60 series tractor. Hope this helps.

I have never heard of a 268. The 68 series cultivators were made for the 60 series tractors (460, 560). Two numbers designate a front mount cultivator for the 6 row cultivators: 68 is a 6 row narrow FM cultivator that can be made into a 4 row wide. A 468 is a 4 row wide model (really can't make this one a 6 narrow). The next series up then is the 78, and a 478. (60 series and up to the 86 series) The 85 was an 8 row wide to a 12 row narrow. ( 06 series and up) The 68 series is only for a narrow front tractor where as you can use a wide front for the 78 series. I have the following cultivators in my collection: a 238 2rw for H or M, a 461 4rw front mount for my M and 560. a 468 4rw and a 68 6rn for my 560 and a 78 6rn for my 560. I will try to do some checking on the 268. For my guess, it is a 2 row wide front mount cultivator to fit on the 60 series tractors including the 140, 240, 340) e-mail me if you have any more questions.
