The name Massey Ferguson is written
across the bar that attaches the top link.
On top of the gear box is a plate that
is not readable , seems to be lube
and possible adjusting instructions.....
Thanks for the help..... C.

I think that u have a MF 31 or 41 is it belt driven or pitman driven. If it is belt driven and has a cast iron gearbox (no angles, no corners everything nice and round)then it is a 31, and if the gearbox is welded (corners, angles weld beads) then it is a 41.

I have a MF 31, and have spent a lot of $$$ on rebuilding it, some of the parts are obsolete, crank, etc.. so hopefully you can find a parts one as well, other parts such as bearings, can still be bought, as well as the $65, pin that goes in the top of the gearbox, make sure it is greased!, the other expensive part is the sickle blade, I wanted a spare, and they are almost twice what a JD would cost, the biggest thing is if the crank, etc. in the gear box is in good shape you should be OK, it is a older machine, and takes a long time to mow, and I am greasing it every couple of hours, I need to go in and replace the seals on the main bearings, lots of grease fittings, but when it works good, it cuts pretty well, and rides the ground (mine is belt driven), but right now I have over $600 in mine, would love to find a parts manual, it is a obsolete machine, so if you break a part, hopefully you can find a good welder..

Thanks Joe.
How much was the blade ? What's the 31
by itself worth ? It seems to be in good shape.
But is it worth fixing or part out and sell ? C.

The 31 is a damn good machine overall the machine is worth 400 to 500 dollars, I have always found parts for the machine, You can buy the blade at a CT Farm and Family Center for less then a $100 bucks, the crank saft can be fixed with the help of a machine shop. Its a good mower i used one for several years cutting about 200 acres overall with it a year, with no problems other then a new blade and belt every 3 years, if u keep it greased, and dont run it ragged it will last damn near forever, by the way u can still get an owners manual for it and parts book at any MF dealer, i bought the parts book and owners manual last year for $32 bucks for both. hope this helps
