earlier this spring we had a 7100 max-emerge2 at one of our places to plant, we ahd left it there only a few days to come back and find that all the hose's that run from the tanks to the aplicators ahd been cut. and this came from a community i grew up in. i dont know who it was but i do know what they wanted. tehy thought we had liqued ammouna nitrate in there, but it was just 600 gallons of liqued fertilizer. iut wouldnt ahve been so bad but the tanks were FULL. i got lucky though and tehy didnt cut the big expensive hose though. i rememeber growing up around here and there wasnt a house for a mile know you cant even step out onyour porch to take a leak. i am still farming the same land my granddaddy did 100 years ago and doing it with pride. what gets me is the farmers ahve enough to deal with, let alone vandalisum! if the kids or who ever doen where in the farming undustry i gurantee the wouldnt ahve pulled a stunt like this cuz A)they would ahve been brought up better then that. B) if they knew what 600 gallon of that cost they deffinatly wouldnt ahve done it and C)They would have alot more respect for there neigbors equipment. after that i either take my equipment back to the famr or find a good bunch of trees to hide it in. i remeber when you could leave your tractor next to the road and no one would bother it anymore you have teh gangs that patrol the streets and county roads. also this plante was down a dirt road about 3 or 4 miles. i ahve left my tractor up the road and come backa day later and all the windows would be busted out, and if any of you know what a front glass for a jd costs then youcould prolly imagine how i felt. sorry to be so wordy but it has been on my mind lately.

Hi,
Very Sad, but true. There is an even larger thief(s) among us. There are hired guns going about the country seeking townships with no zoning regulations and easy targets for land developers.
Your good farm land and mine is being gobbled up at the tune of 2 million acres each year. People give one good _ _ _ _ about the future of our grandchildren and greatgrandchildren's land. Our farm land use in the USA is a shambles. You are given less than the worth of your product so you in turn you will eventually cave in to selling the ole farm to developers who have good intentions for the common good. Just list and look at their intentions. They are reaping the harvest.
So much for my bitching.

May also have been greenies or 'Eco-Terrorists' stopping you from using that dastardly fertilizer to grow the food they eat.

Out here in Northern California we are having lots of trouble with them. So far they've mostly targeted loggers.. but they are begining to go after farmers now too.

If you haven't got some already, be sure to put locks on your fuel tanks, oil fillers and hydraulic tanks too.

They will mess with anything they can to disrupt any activity that doesn't fit their notion of how the world should live.

They hold regular training camps where they teach each other how to do this eco-terror stuff.

Sorry if it's spread to the midwest, but maybe they'll eventually get enough people mad enough that something will be done.

Out West they have made the jump from vandalizing equipment and have started burning research labs at the universities and destroying seed nurseries.

This has finally attracted the attention of the FBI.. but as far as I know, no arrests have resulted yet. These folks are plenty clever.. and patient. They have the same sort of secret organizations as the animal rights extremists.

Don't know what else a fellow can do except try and protect your equipment as best you can and be watchful.

Generally they pick off the easiest targets they can find and will bypass a well-protected site where they could get caught.

Hey John. Durin Harvest a few years ago, in our area, we know everybody and there dog, and we get along with everybody. But some Des Moines %@!*&* city boys (friends of a kid in the area) Decided it would be funny to shoot the windows out of all the equipment sittin up there. We lost windows in 2 grain trucks, the JD 4440, the AC 7060, and the AC 200. Like you said, Hopefully, if they knew what it cost to replace that, they wouldn't have done it (If they had to pay fer it themselves, If they didint hafat pay fer it they wouldnt give a *&!%). Well, These Des Moines City "People" (hard ta call them that, alot of them are so mean, hard to wanna be associated with them) have been getin in shed off the home farm (like a farm that just has a barn left standin on it), and stealin and vandalizing, cuttin fences so they can take there 3 and 4 wheelers out there and raise heck. It aint right. We dont go up and shoot the windows outta there Mercedes and Lexus cars or thre house (Sounds like a good revenge), we dont steal from them, so they should jest leave our stuff alone, unless they want us to do the same.

I am sorry to hear about what happened too the planter. The little "@&*($^**'s" should be beaten with the same hoses they cut. I see an alarming decline of country in the country. Pretty soon if something isn't done about it there won't be anymore country. This country would be in a world of hurt with out its farmers and ranchers and I for one think the people need a wake up call. People have become so uncourteous that I love to back traffic up moving my hay equipment on the road. Maybe we should all do like one ole boy I heard of that people would honk and cuss him out for moving his wing disk on the road so one day he just let the wings down and ran it like that for a week! I heard people were much nicer too him!
People just don't have any idea where their food comes from, not to mention their clothes and things. We cannot survive without agriculture and I for one hope the people wake up and smell the coffee brewing. I hope those who did that too your planter get themselves caught and things are made right.

thank you gary im gald to know im not the only one. around here we ahve some pretty bad hills and when pulling stuff down the road its hard to do like the planter for instans. or like today when i took my tracfotr to get it weighed i ahd about 15 people behind me i let one pass and all he could do was give me the finger so i decided that aint no one passig me and i didnt let em either. if i have to do field work some were and we have the duals on i try to run on the outter edge and still one tire sticks in the other lane it makes people so mad, but what they dont relize is if we didnt farm were would they be? they dont know it but if agriculture was to stop it would affect them more then one way,for example, it would hurt the economy too.i thin your right i wish i coulda beat em with it but there wasnt enough hose to get back far enough. here a few years ago something like thois ahs happend only tomy tractor, we had it down there ready to chop silage and we had a few more acers left so we decided to go get some lunch and start back we where gone maybe 30 minutes and come back to see our tractor's front glass ahd been busted out with a rock the winshield from jd is out rages! oh well i know better then to trust the community now.....i just hope who ever it was has iot weigh on there constions pretty bad..

John, the people you are bothered by are not upset with you because you are a farmer, these people are just angry, miserable people. They don't have any self respect so how could you expect them to have any for you. Just be thankful that you're not them and try not to let them get to you. I love it when a hay wagon or piece of farm equipment is ahead of me. I've never been in that much of a hurry and it gves me a good reason to slow down , even more. Keep farming . John

Come on guys!
Dont let them force you to lower yourself to there level!
I agree with John Healey Most of these people are miserable, living there life in there own little tormented world that they have created for themselfs. And one more thing with road rage at a all time high lowering yourself to there level could get you shot!
You are right on one thing most of them dont stop to think where the food they eat come from.
I remember a wife of a city friend of mine saying one day I dont want a beef from a farmer! When ask way she said WELL it didnt come from KROGERS!
My responce was DUH! where do you think they get it from! They will all get that wake up call one of these days! When enough of us go under and they cant afford or find food anymore they will understand then but not untill then.
For now just keep your head up and know this we are the back bone of this nation and most of the world! People always think of the oil companys as being the most powerfull people in the world!
No IT'S US! you can live without oil! YOU CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT FOOD!

Thanks to everyone about their comments. This is a situation that has really got out of hand. I'm wondering if the people were more educated on what it takes to produce the food they eat and the cloths they wear if that would make any difference? Probably not? I know I used to try to be courtious on the road as I said but those days are all but over. Some people do have the pull over for you when you are moving equipment and thats nice of them, too bad more won't follow the example. I think the main problem we are facing is too many city people moving to the country and thus bringing those drug type deals and such. It would be nice to start some kind of group to make known these concerns all across the country. I would be proud to be a member, I know that! By the way where is everyone from on this discussion? I'm from north Texas.

Greg, im from SouthWest Missouri, we never really had this problem until about 3 or 4 years ago when this people from detriot moved down here.when they moved in about a week or so later peolpe started finding stuff missing. like i said earlier i have to take a 150hp tractor through rown pulling either a 15' chisle plow or 20' disk there are some people who pull over just to get behind and they dont mind to fallow me for 5 or 6 miles to my farm only to get out and tell me to keep up the good work. i really apprciate people like that makes me feel good to know people still think like that. but in the same scense theres people that let me pass only to get tired of going 15 or 18mph and decide to cut me off! they ahve absolutly no respect for those of us who provid these idiots food or clothing! like Greg i want to say thinks to all who have replied to my posts. its good to know theres people out there who still support us and waht we do. i would like to get a club going but i dont know if i have time or how about doing it. it seems to me we have enough posts that we could pitch in and either build a web page or something if anyone wants too. but i would like it to be dedicated to the struggles of farm life and the vast majority of accedents that happen and most of all tractors and there implements.thanks again john

I think you are right, there are so many people moving into rural areas. Here in Carroll Co. Maryland it is the plan of the county commissioners (nearly all former farmers who ran on the slogan "Keep it country") to sell all the farm land to developers at high profit. They are bent on covering the entire county with strip malls and housing developments, and so far have got about 25% of it done. They control the planning commissions and the zoning court. Another thing is the attitudes of drivers, especially the younger ones. I've been given the finger and cursed at by sweet faced little girls that don't look like they could possibly be old enough to drive. Greg

Maybe some day while some of those bird a flying cell phone talken little girls making an illegal pass on a double line will realize the error of thier ways when they mistake your lefthand turn gestures for a wave past and you somehow crush the little red KIA like a cranberry.
Heck years back my uncle was driving his rather large FORD tractor and had just turned out of his door yard when CRASH some one had not bothered to even drive by him and tried instead to go trough him going sixty or better on a town road. Bad Plan, the left side axle was bent and the hitch system screwed up, my uncle was fine. The driver was puored into and ambulance and was no more. The stupid always fix themselves.
You might try leaving a hungry rotty on a long long lease with your equipment, Just a thought.

thanks richard never though about that. f14, it really thicks me off that they ahve to so this. like richard said if it is a meth lab i want it to stop this idiots go around praying on farmers stuff. wha tmakes me mad is they didnt ahve the decensy to LOOK in the tank BRFORE they cut the hoses, they found out it wasnt what they wnated so let it all drain out on to the plowd field! i truly hope its not some meth lab around here my community used to be clean now its gone to haides as far as im concerned! theres been people here trying to get me to sell cuz my dairy cows make it stink, well that got me hot pretty quick and i told em that this land ahs been in the family 100+ years and ill be damned if im gonna sell it to some buileder whos gonna subdived it! so i crooned up this plane to spread fertilizer as much as i could in the summer....ya know the way i look at is if they dont like it they can go back to where they come from right? what happens when all these city slickers move in and shut the farmin industry down? well wnd up like some third world countries im affraid....

What you have is more serious than some kids being destructively aunery. Ammouna nitrate is used to cook meth by the Nazi method. You have in your neck of the woods some serious drug dealers. These guy's aren't probably farm raised, but transplanted themselfs in your area to isolate themselfs during their cooking operation, or they come out to your area just on these ammouna searches. I hope your local law enforcement people are aware of this new Nazi method which is simpler than the traditional way to produce this meth stuff. There are certain signs that are excusive to this operation.

I'm a teenager living on a few acres(OR), raising a few cattle and sheep. Eventually I hope to own a farm. What a great injustice has been done to the American farmer. Around here, as alot of farmers grow grass seed, we see alot of unintelligent people going around setting straw stacks afire. Really, ridiculous and sad.

You guys are in my prayers.

Keep farmin' , Kenneth Strawn

Kenneth,
I commend you on your hopes of owning a farm. Too many young people are drifting away from the very fabric of America. The straw burning you refered to has hit north Texas as well, not so much in the past couple of years but seeing those round bales going up in smoke after a man plants, waits on it to grow and then cuts, rakes and bales and then hauls and stacks really makes my blood boil. I wonder how those doing that would feel if we set there precious little car on fire? This is a problem that needs to be addressed as well as the other indignities we who are producing this great country thier food and clothing are providing with little or no appreciation. As far as I'm concerned, the American Farmer is #1. Who all is with me in cheering on those who till the soil and grow the crops and produce the livestock!!! I also agree with one of the other posts that a web site would be cool to have, I would make one if I had a better pc to do it on. I'm in the market for another, newer or new one, maybe I'll just look into doing a web page? Gary, Tom Bean Texas

what we need is to set some @sses on fire. one farmer i worked for had a barn near a public park that was burned down. i had sheep run out on the road and run over. then they backed up and ran over some more of them. they were never caught . i know several farmers including me who have been threatened by so called sportsman who thought they had the right to do what ever they pleased with our land. i could go on and on but why bother.
