I'm looking at an older, used Woods batwing. The hitch tongue has a single swivel ball. None of my current equipment attaches in this manner and I am not familiar with this set-up. What goes through the Woods tongue to secure it to a tractor? Where do I find whatever it is?

Our 15' batwing is the same way, it came with a piece that bolts to the tractor drawbar, in the small whole that is in front of the main hole, using a 7/8" bolt. It is 1/4" steel that just is 2 90s bent opposite, so it makes a [, then just use a pin through the 3 things (the bracket, the hog, and the drawbar). I hope this helps, it is hard to describe without giving a picture.

Mr. Moose, i just asked the same question here a few weeks ago. an attachment has to be bolted to your drawbar to form a clevis. someone called it a "hammer attachment". the attachment i made was of 1" thick metal the same width as my drawbar, was drilled to fit the small holes that were already in my drawbar. this steps upward and then back with a large hole drilled to line up with the large hole in the end of the drawbar. the ball hitch goes into the clevis formed by the drawbar and attachment with a pin down through all three. clear as mud? email me and i'll try to figure out how to work my scanner to send you a sketch.

I think I understand what you're saying. The end of tractor drawbar winds up looking like the end of a wagon tongue?

On these woods mowers here I use a 3/4" X 6" grade 8 bolt with locking nut.

I turn the nut end to the top and snug it down so the bolt won't hang down to snag and drag a bunch of junk and grass balled up on it.

Seems like a bit of a pain to get a wrench, bolt and unbolt each time you need to change equipment? The other problem I see is that the hole in my drawbar is much larger than the hole through the Woods swivel ball. Looks to me like I would need to get a bolt the size of the drawbar hole and lath down the top to slide into the Woods hole. Then I would still need to drill the top of the bolt to accept a clip pin?

Yeah a clip pin will work unless your in rough brush. Then the brush and grass will keep the clip pulled out and lost, plus the bolt hanging down too low will continually be loading up with brush.

Our JD and Ford drawbars have a 1" hole in them but the mower tongue is 3/4"
