I have an old Papec Ensilage cutter next to the barn. It is in fair shape and with TLC should work. Does anyone know if there is a market for this type of outdated equipment? I am debating whether to bring it back to life. Does anyone remember a color scheme? Your information is appreciated.

Tom,

I have read about some of the old silage choppers being modified and used as brush chippers. I can imagine they would be very effective - might be kind of dangerous if it is one of the belt drive units.

Are you sure you have a silage chopper and not just a silage blower? The blower is just a big fan for blowing the silage into a silo. A chopper has a set of large knives for chopping the crop and then a secondary blower for blowing the silage where ever you want it.

I am assuming it is an old stationary cutter/blower? If it is, in Pennsylvania, the Amish would be able to use it. They still cut corn with binders and then chop at the silo. You wouldn't make a fortune selling it, but you'd probably get enough out of it to make your trouble worthwhile.

Tim is Correct, the Amish do still use them if it is the stationary chopper/blower. I saw one in use last weekend in western pa. Fix it up a little and take it to an auction where a number of Amish go. Should be able to sell it no problem..
Good Luck
