I am restoring an IHC Fertiliser Distributor. The woodwork has been attacked by borer but i am on top of that. For a long lasting and effective final paint job am i best to use enamal or acrylic paint? What are the pros & cons?

Thanks

I'm not sure exactly which paints you are talking about since there is an acrylic enamel and synthetic enamel. The paint most farm supply stores sell is synthetic enamel. CIH paint is acrylic enamel which is much better than synthetic. Better yet are the urethane paints, these will last almost forever and would be my first choice but acrylic enamel with hardner would also work. The hardner actually chemically cures the paint instead of just drying, this makes it harder (more scratch resistant) and will slow down fading. Urethane paints get even harder and will last much longer. Be careful spraying paint with hardners because most hardners contain isocyanate polymers which are toxic, supplied air masks and full paint suits are the best protection against them. Sorry about that it's short for Case International. I was talking about the Iron guard paint they sell at their dealers.
