Are there any wood splitters available that will run on a Ford N-series tractor? A friend told us about a wood splitter that connected to a tractor, however the only one we have found so far looks like it hooks up to the hydraulic system of the tractor and we don't believe that will work with our type of tractor. Any information would be appreciated!

The pto driven hydraulics will work without having to move the tractor. Just don't put the tractor in gear! I have even seen pto driven mechanical splitters . Check at you local farm store.

The hydraulics can be solved by buying a pump that fits over the pto shaft and add in a control valve. But the problem is that N series do not have live pto, they have to be in gear to spin. Which means splitting wood while moving may be the real problem. I do not think there is a way to make it work.

WRONG!!!! True Fords do not have live PTO but the PTO works just fine with the tractor in neutral and the clutch out just make sure you set the brakes and chock the wheels.

Steve, why, & how, would a person want to try to split wood while the tractor is moving? I don't understand that concept at all?
