Does anybody know where I could get a manual for a Vicon 1210 Round Baler? Does anybody have any experience with them? Why do some round bales that I see seem to align the hay in a circular pattern all the way to the center, while other bales (including mine) have a star shape in the center and then circular spiral hay around the outside? Does the bale chamber expand from small to large on newer balers? Thanks for any info.

Jason: We have a NH,and a Vermeer. We use a large "V" rake to give us a wide windrow for a uniform bale. Otherwise we'll have to drive from side to side,or "weave" as we're baling to keep the bale uniform. Hope this helps; Barney-South Ga.

Belt & chain balers generally have the expanding chamber & make tighter bales. Yours must be a soft-core baler, or fixed-chamber baler?

Paul,
Yes, the chamber formed by the belts of my baler is of fixed dimensions. I thought that all round balers were like this until I started noticing bales that were spiral all the way to the center. So balers like mine are called "soft-core" balers, huh? As the other reply stated, i have to weave back and forth if my windrow is not wide enough but I have been able to get pretty good uniformity. The first time I baled with it, the bales were pretty good. The second time, I decided that since the pickup worked so good compared to my 40 year old small square baler, I would hit a higher gear. This faster ground speed resulted in looser bales that sagged after a couple of days - even though I tied at the same indicated tightness on the hydraulic gauge.
