Can anyone tell me if New Holland is still making parts for their older sickle bar mowers. I have a model 44 45 46, and broke the pitman wood as well as the pitman straps. Our local NH dealer is only interested in selling new equipment, and doesn't seem to care about supporting the older equipment.

I got everything I needed to rebuild my New Holland 44 45 46 from John Web at www.sickleservice.com (less paint). The sickles, hold downs, sections, stone guards, pitmans, etc are all available but the sickle ends are getting hard to find. He gave me great service.

As stated earlier, Tractor Supply has some pitman woods. I have seen them in some catalogs as well or you could get a piece of oak the same dimensions and make your own. You would need to have good measurements before doing this naturally to get the proper stroke of the sections. As for the straps, that would be something I would have too look at, it may be possible to do some good welding???? Or else jury rig something. You might try looking around and seeing if there is a tractor and equipment wrecking yard in your area. You might try placeing an ad online for used or new parts aswell.
Hope this helps. Gary, Tom Bean Texas

Saw 8 different sizes of pitman wood at my local tractor supply company just yesterday.

My brother has a 44 45 46 type NH mower. (The model no. depends on method used to attach to tractor). He get the parts from Quality, and some old time NH dealers. He avoids the yuppie type NH dealers like the plague. He got tired of being ignored and get better service from the other places..
Good luck,
Tom-Pa

As alternatives:

A lot of these parts are interchangable from different color machines. For example, I have a green (JD) pitman straps/cup on my 501 mower, as that is what I could find in town.

Many farm supply store chains (Tractor Supply, Quality, etc.) carry pitmans & other such supplies, or may be able to order for your model.
