Have old Hesston 10 Stackhand. Previous owner placed solid metal sheeting over rusted out top of machine. Since the original was slotted, would this impede the air flow, and is this why my stacks all lean forward? Also, where can I find parts for this?

that could be the reason,or could be that the hay is not being blown back far enough. just my guesses . i am thinking about buying a stackhand and using it on my d 17 . i passed up 2 today . too tired from working all night to go . there is a farm catalog that has the chain for it cant find the catalog now for the name but it comes out in a fall and spring issue .they also have tillage parts in it. but i would think an agco dealer could order what parts you need. i saw a hesston 10 advertised for $750.oo in farm world paper. let us know how it works out. how is the quality of the hay made qwith a stackhand? how much hp do you use on it? thanks and good luck! =)

to tim[in]: thanks for info on stackhand. am in construction days (explosives) and farm nites. haven't had time to get back. Stacks haven't been keeping like they should because of problem I mentioned. Leaning at the slant they do exposes too much surface to the weather. Have Oliver 1600 to pull it.

bill, check your unloading speed, and I guess you are compressing 3 times? we have used one around 30 years now. only trouble is with wind before you get a rain to seal top. try to set behind a tree line if poss. good old machine, even if somewhat dirtier to operate than the old 30 we just got.
