Hi,

I bought a used tractor that came with a sickle bar mower. The teeth are badly worn and need to be replaced. The original tooth size was 211-201. None of the local stores carry this size. I tried 211-001 but the holes seem about 1/16" too wide.

So far I have been unable to find this size online. Does anyone know of a place to order sickle sections online? Does anyone know if this size has been replaced by a different number?

Thanks!

Our TSC store carries a lot of sections and I was able to buy a package of sections 10 for $7.95 for my I-H sickle mower. I bought a slew at a tractor show, half were I-h the other half were stamped "Detroit" and were about 1\16th inch too big in the holes. A friend had a box of guards and sections he gave me as they were of no use to him. I found that old NEW IDEA guards would fit a McCormick mower. I fixed two bars for a friend who has a cub. I used 11 new sections and three new guards, but he has two good knives now and the cub cuts like a charm. I'd try TSC or your local I-h dealer

Another good idea is to locate a whole replacement sickle bar with sections. It is often cheaper than buying all the sickles, rivets/ bolts, plus the work of changing.

What kind of mower is it, the numbers sound like the numbers I used for my New Idea, I never did find any where to get them on line but did find them at the local ag store after alot of confusion with the numbering.

Maybe the best is to take in one of the old sections and have the store people match it, then keep the new number for later. Something that happened to me a few years ago, when I was still using the sickle mower; bought a box of sections so I would be all prepaired for haying, never checked the fit before hand, cut quit a few acres of hay before breaking a section, went to put one on, like you said the holes were about a sixteenth of an inch out, lucky I had a power saw file.....after using one out of the box couldn't take it back for replacement, so.....one box of non-fit sections on the shelf! Just rambling, have a gooder, R.E.L.
