What to do with old, worn out implements?

Got an old Ford hay rake that I liked a lot, but it's going to take more cash to get it running than it is really worth. Bought a replacement.

Now the question is: what to do with the old worn out one?

I know it's a time-honored tradition to park stuff on the side of a field and let trees grow through it (that's what is happening to it now). What other options are there? It'll cost me more to take it to recycling place than I'll get for it, at 40 cents a hundred weight.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Tom

Given the prices on eBay for "restored" tractors, I'd put it up for auction and see what happens.

Find someone restoring an old Ford-Ferguson tractor, and convince him to buy your rake to restore also as it would make an unusual implement to take to the shows with the restored tractor.

Same situation: Ford hay rake gave up the ghost. What to do with it? Wife wants it out of the yard. My local FNH dealer has a "boneyard" out behind his store that he NEVER sells anything out of (might be needed someday). But his son is a little more reasonable. I noticed he had two other rakes (or parts of rakes) in his collection. Also noticed he had an old bumper that would fit my Ford 800 tractor so I talked the son into trading my old rake for his bumper. Now the rake is fertilizing weeds at the FNH dealer's yard instead of mine and I got a bumper!

Park it in the hedge row. Some day your grandson will pull it out and think he found a treasure. I have pulled a few good implements out of my grandpas hedge row and have fixed them up reasonably for my hobby farming. He couldn't justify fixing it then because he was a real farmer and needed good equipment and couldn't justify the repair expenses, but I can buy most old parts for the junk I got and it gets the job done. So park it in the hedge row and it won't bother a soul, but will be their if you ever need it or something off of it.
