I have aproblem with the one side of the Ford baler, the knot is usually not tying, occasionally tying a knot, but once you pick up the bale the knot lets go. Very rarely the knot is good. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Mark, I have a 530 baler and will be willing to help what I can. Do you have a manual? Go to the FNH web site and order one ASAP. The baler more than likely needs the twine fingers adjusted (aka Tucker Fingers) If they are not going back far enough one twine will slip off the bill hook as the knot ties. It will cut the twine and look good but fall apart at the first sign of pressure. If that is the case then you need a manual. Are you still using the same type of twine?

I do have a manual and I think I've got it all set up correctly..... (that's what is frustrating). It appears to me that the bill hook is severly worn allowing too much of a gap in there, allowing the twine to slip out. I have a new finger on there so I'm pretty sure it is not the finger. I appreciate all the input. Thanks, Mark

also check the tension on the twine at the twine box. has to have some but not too much. There are also sometimes different bill hooks for these depending upon the type twine you are using so make sure they are thge same

It's hard to say what's wrong without looking at it. A manual would be very helpful so you could go thru the whole system. I would start by making sure the wiper arm contacts the bottom of the knotter when it ties -- also check the tucker fingers. They are on top of the bale chamber below the knotters, and should clear the needle by 1/32 to 3/32-inch. When they're in the resting position, they should be from 1/8 to 1/2-inch to the left of the needle slot while the top of each finger is held toward the left. Hope this helps!

My NH 65 baler will only tie properly when it has the 9000 plastic twine in it. Anything else will not tie properly on one side.

Yes- We do have a bull. Funny you would ask about that when we are talking about balers. Anyway, he is a nice Black Angus. We have cows too and some calves. Nice of you to ask.

New holland uses the same knotters. I had the same problem on a NH 275. I tried everything and finally an old baler mechanic told me to switch the knotter assemblies from left to right and right to left. BINGO the problem dissapeared. Baled about 5000 more bales that year with no more of the same problem. Good Luck.

I use a JD 24T but the theory should be the same. Check your manual for the adjustments to the billhook tension. It sounds like the billhook is not holding the twine tight enough while the knot is being tied.

Could also be the twine holder disks need to be tightened a little.
