Hello all,
I ended up buying that NH 68 baler that Greg had posted a few weeks back. Thanks, Greg!
It looks to be in good shape except for one thing: the knotter trip arm (well, that's what I'm calling it, anyway) was, I believe, in the wrong position. It's there, but it doesn't do much - kinda flops around, not solid in the gauge pully wheel, won't tell the knotter when to trip. Looks like it had been taken off and put back wrong - the cam at the end was sort of hanging out in space, not on the groove in the knotter clutch where I think it should be. On the same piece as the cam is the actual lever that is supposed to trip the clutch. You can hand-trip the clutch, and the knotters do there thing, so it's still timed & all. The little spring that was, I think, supposed to go near the cam was corroded off at that end - I'll get a new one. Maybe that's the whole problem??

So come on, O Lords Of All Things New Holland - help me out! How is this thing supposed to be? How much do I have to take apart to get it right? And trust me, I understand the importance of not screwing up that plunger/knotter timing. It would be really great if someone could post a sketch, although I don't see it too often.

Thanks in advance, Jim H.
