Well, I was trying out the baler and something happened. I think an idler sprocket came off. Chain jumped a few links. Timing went off, forks got slammed by the plunger, shear pin didn't break soon enough, forks bent, chain broke etc. I think the baler is now good for parts and that is it about it. I'm in Ontario if anyone is looking for parts! Knotters seem to work well, needles good.

I am looking into purchasing a MF 12 baler, locally! Before this problem was it a good baler?
How about the knotters???

Tonight I did some work on it and got the forks straightened. I am going to try to get it going again just for grins. Knotters were good as far as I know but I only made a few bales with it stationary. I'll let you know if I can't get it going.

Timing on these balers is very important. There is a diagram on the side of the chamber, if I recall correctly, that shows the timing. As with, I think, most balers the drive chains have to have the correct number of links, no adding or removing links or half-links. From what I read I don't think there was any permanent damage done, just straighten it out and time it correctly. One more thing, check for broken springs, this machine hade alot of various springs and if anyone of them is broken you will experience some sort of problem.
