I need a hay rake and have an opportunity to get a MHF model 36 for cheap (maybe free). It does need some parts. Does anyone know if parts and manuals are still available for this unit? Is this a good rake? I was looking for a 3 pt rake but this pull-behind will probably have to do. Maybe it's better....

Comments and advice invited. Thanks.

Hello Jim-- I bought a MHF 36 rake a year ago. I was able to find teeth through an aftermarket supplier and bearings for the gear box through a local machine shop no problem. I can't tell you about manuals though. I understand that the MHF 36 and the MF 36 are very similar.

My friend has an MF 36. He was able to purchase a hub part through the MF dealer last year. I think the basket is the same as the later model 37 (offset wheels) which was made into the eighties. He just got a manual for it on e-bay last month.
