Well I bought a 65 N.H. Compact. $200.00 put another 250.00 into it and a few good weekends. Made new bushings for the knotters knives, replaced most of the pickup fingers, all the bearings on the plunger, welded new angle iron on the delivery side, along with belts and misc. bolts and nuts. HA Loved every minute of it and after all that the damn thing WORKS and WORKS well. Like all others I can get all the parts so far except the Big blade on the plunger.. Good luck ...
P.S. Get the manuels...you still can and their worth their weight in GREEN!!!

You are in the same position that I am, except that I haven't found a 66 nearby. I will look at the needles to see if they have been welded, and of course how worn out is the knotter???? My dad and I ran one for years and it was a tough, easy to use, with low maintenence. Good Luck

If it's his and he wants to call it a bailer what difference does it make???

Like Dell said. They are good bailers if it's not wore out or rusted down and easy to work on, plus that you can still get the parts you need.

Jeesh, sorry for the spelling of 'baler'. Sure have spent enough hours using one to know the difference! First one had a 2 cyl Wisconsin that was impossible to start if stalled and hot. Second one pto and did custom baling with it. Absolutely durable, even brazed the needles and worked well.
