Can someone tell me what a JD 1200 planter is? How old is this planter? Is this a wire check planter? What row configurations did this come in? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks Jeff

We had 1240 planters in our country which were 4 row and the first JD models to offer plateless corn planting. I would guess they came out in the early 1970's. I think there was 6 and 8 row models available also.
They worked perfect for about a 1000 acres and then the plateless mechanism had to be overhauled. It gave my father-in-law so much trouble that he bought a cyclo International and wouldn't look at the JD 7000 when it came out with all of it's revolutionary features.
